CLINICAL NUTRITION Registered dietitians play a vital role in the overall health of our patients as diet is important for growth, development and the healing process. At Shriners Children’s Portland, pediatric clinical dietitians are a part of the clinical team working with patients before and after surgery to make sure the patient’s nutrition status is optimal. Their teaching includes topics such as weight management and energy balance, boosting calories and protein to improve growth and development, as well as recommending vitamin and mineral supplements to support healthy bone growth and postoperative healing. FINANCIAL COUNSELOR Shriners Children’s Portland provides non-emergent, elective, medically necessary care to individual patients without discrimination and without regard to their ability to pay, ability to qualify for financial assistance, or availability of third-party coverage. All health care professionals treating patients in Shriners Children’s Portland locations abide by this Financial Assistance Policy. A financial counselor is available to assist patients and their guardians to determine their eligibility for financial assistance.̶
