Shriners Children’s Greenville Names Auditorium in Honor of Martin and Cris Oehler Cris Oehler spent her working life inspiring — and being inspired by — children. So, when it came to honoring the legacy of his beloved late wife, it was only fitting that her husband, Martin, dedicate a $1 million contribution to Shriners Children’s in her memory. Coming from humble country backgrounds, Martin and Cris established a successful business together. Cris was a tremendous asset to the business alongside her husband, but her true passion was her work as a schoolteacher, inspiring and motivating her students. Her caring spirit fostered the couple’s lifestyle of love and service to others, a legacy that was in great part fueled by family. Cris’s father, Floyd P. Crisp, was an Oasis Shriner. He served as a Road Runner and made several

hundred trips to the Greenville hospital. Martin saw the joy Floyd experienced as a Shriner and enthusiastically embedded himself as part of the community, becoming a Shriner himself. Together, he and Cris were active fixtures in the Robbinsville Shrine Club, always seeking opportunities to help and support the club. Martin also joined the Keystone Kops. The pair spent a significant amount of their time in service to others. Their obvious charity of choice was Shriners Children’s. In 2023, Shriners Children’s Greenville dedicated its auditorium in honor of their extraordinary generosity. During the unveiling of the Cris and Martin Oehler Auditorium, Martin and his family had a chance to meet and visit with Greenville patient ambassador, Brayden. Brayden rolled up in his wheelchair, thanked Martin for his gift and hugged him as only a child can. Martin knew in that moment the deep impact his donation would have on our patients.
