» Brazil – In December 2023, Imperial Sir James E. “Ed” Stolze Jr., led a group to São Paulo to begin assessing the local healthcare market and begin developing a strategy to provide more care locally. » Cyprus – A Shriners Children’s team has been traveling to Cyprus annually for 40 years (with an interruption during the COVID pandemic). This past year outreach resumed, with two separate trips in which more than 300 patients were seen and eleven complex surgeries performed in collaboration with local physicians. An orthotist/prosthetist made and delivered braces and prosthetics for more than 80 children. In additional to Cypriot patients, children seen in outreach traveled from countries in the region, including Egypt, Greece, Jordan, Lebanon, Nigeria and Turkey. » Pacific Basin – Outreach clinics were held in American Samoa, Fiji, Guam, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Saipan, Tonga and Yap. » Puerto Rico – A team from Philadelphia has been traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico to see patients with orthopedic conditions for over 50 years, and specialists from Boston have also traveled to San Juan for more than 20 years. Orthopedic outreach resumed following a three-year pause due to the pandemic. In each of the semi-annual outreach clinics, physicians, rehab specialists, orthotists/prosthetists and seating program specialists saw and provided devices to more than 250 patients. Additionally, craniofacial specialist physicians completed seven complex surgeries and screened 32 patients in March 2024.
