states and work with a large network of nationwide and independent suppliers to sell the vehicle to maximize the donation proceeds. In 2020, 557cars were donated producing more than $384,000 in support of Shriners Hospitals for Children. The donated vehicles included a timeless 1984 Ferrari 400I and a 1967 Aero Lark Commando 180 airplane. MATCHING GIFTS In August 2020, we advanced the Matching Gifts program to raise more awareness and funds from retired and current employees in industries around the globe, to double the impact of their support with the help of their employer. Donor Relations launched its first Matching Gifts landing page on our website, which helps promote, educate and highlight matching gifts. With a simple search of their employer, individuals quickly gain year-round access to their company’s matching gift guidelines, instructions and forms they need to make a match request to their company. Additionally, the company search tool is provided on all online donation forms to encourage donors to search their company’s matching gift policy. In the first six months, more than 110,000 individuals accessed the Matching Gifts landing page. The employee engagement opportunity raised more than $1.5 million in 2020. EFFICIENT FUNDRAISING In addition to raising considerable amounts for our health care system, the donor relations staff works efficiently. Our efforts help ensure that, across the health care system, 83 cents of every dollar raised directly supports Shriners Hospitals for Children.

This metric has also contributed to our organization earning the highest possible rating from Charity Navigator for the fifth consecutive year. MEET SOME OF OUR AMAZING DONORS TEXAS SELF STORAGE ASSOCIATION After a tour of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Galveston 19 years ago, leaders at Texas Self Storage Association (TSSA) saw the Shriners slogan, “Love to the Rescue” in action and knew they had to help. Since that day, the company has made our Galveston location their philanthropic focus by holding fundraising events each year to support the hospital. Through their annual Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament, live and silent auction, their $1 Per Unit Challenge, plus additional activities throughout the year, TSSA has raised over $1.6 million since they first visited Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The pandemic created innovative fundraising opportunities for many who once only held in-person events. More companies engaged their employees, and other groups found a new way to reach their friends and family around the world. In August, Proud Supporter events began again on a case-by-case basis keeping state and city guidelines and safety measures in place. There were 175 in- person events in 2020 and 273 online fundraising events. Total peer-to-peer fundraising events raised $425,726. FUNDRAISING FOR PPE Like medical facilities around the world, Shriners Hospitals locations were in need of additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during COVID-19. This became a goal of the donor relations staff across the country. The new need allowed staff to build relationships with companies that were committed to making an immediate and lasting impact for our patients and medical teams. Moore generously donated 50,000 face shields, Azul 3D donated over 2,000 face shields and MRACLE2020 gave 900. Support fromMRI Network and Fusion PPE secured protective equipment to ensure the highest level of safety. Many other local and national companies stepped up to be our partner in care for those in need. VEHICLE DONATIONS The Vehicle Donation program expanded through 2020 with a dedicated landing page to guide individuals on how to donate their motor vehicle to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Through an easy two- step process of calling us or filling out a form and scheduling a vehicle pick-up at no cost to the donor, Shriners Hospitals will receive the proceeds of the donation and the donor will receive a tax-deductible receipt. We strive to accept any type of donated vehicle, running or not, including cars, trucks, trailers, boats, RVs, motorcycles, campers, off-road vehicles, heavy equipment and more. However, the passionate group was challenged in 2020 when the pandemic minimized their normally lively and in-person events. They moved all their fundraising online to a personalized Shriners Hospitals for Children peer- to-peer donation page that they could share with customers, clients and the community to raise more funds and awareness. In 2020, Texas Self Storage Association raised $18,322 and became one of our top online fundraisers.
