AnnualReport2021
OPTIMIZING AND STANDARDIZING PROCESSES As we continue these efforts, we will begin to look at ways to improve our internal structures and processes, such as consolidating local leadership, potentially using a team-based approach of regional leadership that is being tested in a pilot program in the Midwest, streamlining information and other services and unifying goals of planning and development across the system. FOCUSED ON THE FUTURE By 2035, we will have fewer brick-and- mortar traditional hospitals. Instead, there will be Centers of Excellence, ambulatory surgery centers, clinics and a range of collaborations and affiliations with other community health care
providers. We will also continue to refine and emphasize our telehealth efforts, including offering more “at home” visits, with parents able to connect via their cell phones, laptops or tablets. This advancement has the potential to one day make access to Shriners Hospitals for Children essentially effortless and limitless. While Shriners Hospitals for Children only has locations in North America, the health care system has a global reach and impact. The majority of our hospitals hold regularly scheduled outreach clinics that extend the mission of Shriners Hospitals far beyond our primary locations. In a typical year, our health care system offers approximately 120 international outreach clinics, as well as just over 200 domestic outreach clinics. Of course, this year has been anything but typical – we look forward to the day we can return to meeting this need effectively.
