There was plenty of action off the field with six Shriners Children’s patients from five locations serving as honorary team captains – each having the opportunity to spend

the day on campus with participating teams prior to the tournament.

Patients participated in many fun activities, including throwing out first pitches. They were given special recognition with video segments featuring their stories, interviews in the broadcast booth, and inclusion in the umpires’ meeting. Some patients even got to sit in the dugout during a game. Shriners Children’s profile on the baseball landscape has expanded with the addition of two tournaments hosted by the Texas Rangers with Shriners Children’s as the official charitable beneficiary.
