VIDEO The marketing and communications department produces a variety of videos for our national signature events, Imperial Session, and corporate and membership communications, as well as the tremendously popular annual Patient Success, or National Patient Ambassadors, video. » In 2020, our 2019 National Patient Ambassador documentary This is my Moment: the Stories of Madelyn and Cristian won five Telly awards in the following categories:

MEDIA SUCCESSES Alec, one of our most visible and enthusiastic spokespersons, was featured on the “Power Player of the Week” during Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace in March. We thank Alec for giving so much of himself, and his time, to help raise the profile of Shriners Hospitals for Children. Another successful media event was our telethon. The Shriners Hospitals for Children Stories of Love Telethon was held at the Grand Ole Opry on Dec. 5, 2020. The event was a huge success with more than 45 million viewers and nearly 75 million impressions. Many of our patient ambassadors made appearances during the telethon, some serving as presenters, and others sharing their stories with the audience. The telethon was hosted by Olympic gold medal figure skater Scott Hamilton and featured an all-star line-up including Shriner Brad Paisley, Trace Adkins, Sara Evans and CeCe Winans. An additional media success occurred after Ms. Sutherd’s fourth-grade class raised $50,000 for our Northern California hospital (see p. 73). The hospital marketing staff there successfully arranged for her recognition on The Ellen DeGeneres Show . She was called out from the virtual audience on May 19, and honored for the powerful and inspirational message of her young students.

The stories of successful patient outcomes, medical expertise, innovative research and profiles of our medical and clinical staff, are meant to encourage choosing Shriners Hospitals for Children as your provider of choice. Shriner Magazine: Pride and Tradition , the fraternity’s quarterly magazine, is distributed to every Shriner possible. The publication was created at the request of a Past Imperial Potentate during his year in office to strengthen the connection of individual fraternity members to Shriners International. With each issue, we try to honor that goal as we select stories, and we do our best to include temple news from every corner of the globe.
